We are Reiki - a different view of what Reiki is from my experience
At conception we are our purest essence. We are biological cells with life force energy flowing through and vibrating at the highest possible frequency. We are pure life force energy. We have yet to be influenced by that which is outside of us, but alas, that is only true for mere weeks. We, as fetal energy, begin to absorb vibrational energy from our mother and other outside sources. Sensory stimulation begins to influnece us and this is where the disconnect from our purity begins.
Reiki is that purity. Mikao Usui discovered and named Reiki in the early 1920's. He was drawn to a 21 day practice of prayer and fasting and was struck with symbols that he drew and named. These sacred symbols are used in Reiju (attunement) of Reiki practitioners. He realized during his retreat that he could heal his own injuries and pain with the energy in his hands. He knew that this energy was our purest essence and that we become disconnected from it as we experience life. Hence the name Rei- spirit or universal power, Ki - vitality that flows through every living thing, life force energy - REIKI. Usui put a name to our essence. He went on to teach others how to reconnect with Reiki, he placed the sacred symbols in the hands of his students so they could go on to share Reiki with others, bringing silence and stillness to the body.
Universal life force energy is the highest vibrational energy. It is pure love energy. It is the greatest healing force because it is who we are. Recieving Reiki helps us reconnect with our purest essence and heal. Reiki is shared through the hands of a trained and attuned practitioner to bring balance to energy centres within the body. Being off balance leads to aches, pains, emotional difficulties, illness and disease. Reiki helps to rebalance and restore. Practicing or recieving Reiki long term is life changing.
So, if I am Reiki, why can't I heal myself, why do I need a practitioner? Because we have become so disconnected that we cannot conciously feel the energy unless we learn, practice and recieve it. Practitioners (Master/teacher) have taken the time to deeply understand and practice Reiki. Anyone can learn and become attuned to Reiki.

If you are interested in exploring how Reiki could help you, look for a practitioner who deeply understands Reiki.
