Ways to Wellness
Our journey is ours and it's unique. Mine has led me to a place where I have discovered 5 things I want to include in my day to bring the balance that I am looking for. I thought I would share them with you!
Work - everyday, do something that helps you feel accomplished. Admiral William H. McRaven said " if you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day and it will encourage you to do another and another......." Some days, simply making the bed is as far as we may get, other days we may accomplish so many tasks. Do something each day that accomplishes a task related to work that brings an income or a household task that needs to be done. Thank yourself when it is finished.
Learn - we never stop learning. A number of years ago I was delivering a 2 day training to a group of people and at the beginning of Day 1 I asked participants to introduce themselves and share what they are hoping to get from the 2 days. One participant said " I am here because I have to be, I know all there is to know about this topic so I won't learn anything new." At the end of Day 2 I asked participants to share 1 thing that they learned or will put into practice. The same participant responded with "I learned nothing." If we believe we have learned all we can learn we prevent ourselves from learning more. The reality is no human can ever learn all there is to learn. We all have different interests, things that peek our curiosity. Be open to learning everyday. Read a book, do some research, sign up for an online course that interests you. Join a special interest educational program at a local college. Learn something new everyday.
Connect to spirituality - Everyone has their own way of honouring their spirituality. Your way is the right way for you. Take time each day to meditate, pray, practice energy work, whatever works for you. Connect to the universal higher power. Once you intentionally begin to spend time each day you will feel the connection more powerfully everyday and eventually feel as one with the energy. This brings a sense of calm, peace, love and harmony that helps to face difficult situations or remind us to celebrate our blessings more intensely.
Take care of your body - Do something physical. Go for a walk, jog, play a sport, garden, whatever physical activity you are drawn to, do it for at least a few minutes a day. I prefer to dance as I go about my day. And don't forget to add nutrition, eat foods that give you energy and balance. Drink lots of water. Be intentional about what you put into your body.
Play - Take time each day to play or relax. Have dinner with friends, go for a boat ride, watch your tv show, whatever is relaxing and feels fun to you. All work and no play is stressful. It is important to make time everyday for a bit of fun.
Everything in moderation, as they say. Not everyday is going to have a perfect balance no matter how hard you try, the important thing is that we try. When we get off balance we simply decide what we need to change to get back.
Starting July 27th I am going to offer a FREE 5 day Ways to Wellness series via my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/360restorativehealing . Join me there to be challenged to find your balance!
Namaste!
